Burnley Town vs Junior Hoops Bears U7s

Friendly 2 November 2019

With Liverpool having a fixture congestion problem which Vicks would struggle to clear Bears were looking forward to a well deserved winter break until the call from Viking Access sponsored Bootroom arranged a friendly with the town of Burnley. In the traditional green and white hoops proudly sponsored by Go Stroll Bears do not know the meaning of the word friendly and bring in the Mitchel brothers and start with Tommy in goal, defence of Elliott and Alex and attacking duo of Lucas and Rocco. Super subs are Luciano and Jonah.

The Town look a well organised outfit, comfortable on the ball and passing across the width of the pitch but Bears defend strong until a loose ball falls to an unmarked claret to open the scoring. Alex is quickest on the restart and smart pass to Rocco first time shot saved but Lucas is first to react and calmly fires in the equaliser. Its fast and furious now with Elliott defending deep to break the breakaway and finds Alex great control and composure to beat the keeper. Burnley respond with two goals Tommy has no hope of saving. Subs on now and Jonah fresh from sleeping through the alarm clock beats the keeper to pull one goal back and then Luciano controls the ball in his own half takes a touch look up to see the keeper off his line and shoots, not only goal of the day but contender for goal of the season. Half time all even.

Second half and Tommy told by the east end boys to give the goalie top to Elliott. The shuffle of the pack works straight from the restart and Alex completes his hat trick in fine style. Elliott makes a fine save and sets the bears in motion with Lucas control and pass in one movement to create space for Rocco to run clean through and make no mistake with the finish. This sets the pattern for the rest of the match as Tommy defends well and combines with Lucas to allow Rocco to complete a hat trick and claim the man of the match award. Peggy would be proud of her boys as Jonah has time for one last shot after smart work from Luciano and Alex but shot hits the post and clarets have no answer.
