The latest installment from Junior Hoops U7 Saints..

Forget England in the Rugby World Cup Quarter Final, the only place to be this Saturday morning was at the Blackburn Soccerdome as the Junior Hoops U7 Saints took on the Wilpshire Wanderers in the ADJFL in the early kick off on Match Day 5.

The Saints didn’t disappoint those who chose to record the rugby and watch the football with Oakley driving the team forward from the off with a quick fire hat trick – two with his favoured left foot and then a special with his right . Following a ten minute stint in the goals Seb made an instant impact on the game as he came into the midfield and applied a cool finish cutting in from the left and curling the ball home into the bottom right hand corner. In almost a mirror image Teddy quickly followed this up with a similar strike of his own this time cutting in from the left.

With the team’s defensive rock, Oscar missing through illness, Coach McFadden opted for a fluid formation with each player changing positions across the game. Alfie continued his recent goal scoring form with a brace. The first was a stylish finish breaking through from the right before a clever follow up from Teddy’s strike just before half time set the Saints up for the second half.

The Wanderers battled back with a number of powerful finishes but the Saints continued to stretch them with some incisive football.

Leighton scored a delightful one on one before enhancing his ‘back post bandit’ status with a goal that has become a trademark between himself and Teddy. Teddy won the ball on the right before beating his man and playing a teasing ball across the face of goal. Out of nowhere Leighton appeared to slam home and wheel away in delight. Oakley added another goal before Leighton sealed his hat trick and Seb rounded off the match with a delightful right footed finish.

A great way to sign off for the half term ahead.

C’mon the Hoops!
