Under 9 Saints put in a fine performance against Unsworth Phoenix in the NBJFL
After a disappointing season opener against Shawside last week, the boys rolled their sleeves up and put in a performance to be proud of against Unsworth Phoenix. Battling performances throughout the team and some really eye-catching football against an organized and resolute Phoenix side was brilliant to see.
Early first half goals from Grimesie and Romeo and some good keeping from Riley gave the Saints a good foothold in the game but credit to Unsworth who kept plugging away, and they got their rewards with goals of their own before half-time.
The second half saw the Saints come into their own with some brilliant footy played. A well marshalled defence by Bentie limited Unsworth too few clear cut chances and up the other end Man of the Match Oli Felton lead the line brilliantly with some excellent individual skill creating chances for himself and unselfishness in front of goal setting up numerous chances for his teammates. It just wouldn’t go in the back of the net this time a great even match.
Well played Saints.
